Carrollton Artists Helen Helwig, Don McWhorter, Ron Free, Randy Ayers, and Melanie Drew will be exhibiting sculpture, pottery, and mosaics in the Galleria from March 1 through June 30.

Top National Watercolor Artists to Exhibit at 

Carrollton Cultural Arts Center 

The Carrollton Cultural Arts Center, Carrollton, GA is hosting the Georgia Watercolor Society 32nd National Exhibit. The show features approximately 80 paintings by many acclaimed watercolor artists from across the United States. These pieces were selected from 161 artists from 27 states and 333 submissions. The exhibit showcases dynamic abstracts, captivating portraits, awe-inspiring landscapes and entrancing still lifes, all created in watermedia.

The paintings are on display from March 4 through April 20, 2011. “We are so lucky to have such a wonderful venue to display all the remarkable artwork in this year’s exhibit. Please come by and enjoy the outstanding art and impressive venue,” says Kathy Kitz, GWS Chair of the show.

The Georgia Watercolor Society was founded in 1975 and now boasts more than 500 members. “From the minute I saw the paintings come in, I knew this would be a wonderful show. There is so much versatility and talent, it will captivate us all. I am proud to represent such a great group of artists,” states Judy Greenberg, GWS, President of the organization.

Nationally recognized watercolor artist and instructor, Christopher Schink from Santa Rosa, California judged the show. He is teaching a three-day workshop in conjunction with the exhibit from April 6 through April 8. Georgia Watercolor Society will host a demo by Mr. Schink on April 9 at 10:30 am, followed by a Members’ Luncheon and Meeting, 12:30-2:30. A reception and awards ceremony begin at 2:45 pm on April 9, and are free and open to the public.

The Carrollton Cultural Arts Center is located at 251 Alabama St., Carrollton, GA. Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 am – 5 pm. and Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. Closed Sunday. Carroll County Community Chorus presents the spring concert series: A Tribute to Disney on Friday, April 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in the Danny Mabry Theatre. Children’s Hour Spring Concert on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 6 p.m. in the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center Theatre. The concert will feature performances by participants in CPRCAD Cultural Arts programs. Free. Call 770-838-1083 for more information.

The Georgia Kiwanis Art and Music Showcase will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2011 at the Carrollton Cultural Art Center. The showcase begins at 3:00 p.m. and features art and music showcase winners from Kiwanis Clubs throughout the state. This is a one-day competition and students will be competing for $15,000 in college scholarships that are sponsored by the Georgia Kiwanis District Foundation. Free Admission. The Taiwan International Watercolor Society presents the 2011 International Watercolor Exhibition at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in the Roush Gallery and the Galleria for the months of in May and June. It will come to Carrollton from its’ showing in New York City. An opening reception will be held May 6th, 2011from 5-7pm in the lobby. The exhibit closes on June 30th, 2011. Teen Theatre Auditions for Footloose for ages 13-19, Saturday, May 14 at 10AM and Monday May 16 at 6PM at the Carrollton Cultural Arts Center in the Theatre Rehearsal Room.( A call back audition is scheduled for May 17 at 6 pm as needed.) All actors should come prepared to sing a song a cappella or with accompaniment. $50 participation fee for all cast members is due at first rehearsal. Fee includes a cast t-shirt. Rehearsals are Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Monday, May 23 from 6-10 p.m. (Only soloists will be scheduled to rehearse May 31-June 2 to allow Teen Improv participation.) Production dates are Thursday, August 11, and Friday, August 12 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Kathy Waldrop, Director. The Carroll County Cultural Arts Alliance Board of Directors Invites You To the 30th Annual Arts Gala Garden Party, Thursday, May 19 from 7 pm-9pm at the home of Ray and Linda Fulford 1355 Mt Zion Rd, Carrollton, GA 30117. Teen Theatre Improv Workshop Tuesday, May 31-June 3 from 6-9 p.m. Instructor: Tommy Futch from “Laughing Matters” comedy troupe. Fee is $25 per participant.
