Tanner's Short Stay/Clinic Avenue Entrance Closing, Courtesy Valet Parking Expanding

As construction continues on the campus of Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton, the Clinic Avenue/Short Stay parking lot and entrance to the hospital will close on April 4. The facility will begin offering free valet service on that date at the Dixie Street atrium as a courtesy to its patients.

There is no charge to use the valet service. Tips will be accepted, but are not expected.

As part of the construction, registration services – including those for the hospital’s laboratory, diagnostic imaging (including ultrasound, CT, X-ray and MRI) and cardiopulmonary departments – have been moved to the first floor of the hospital on the Dixie Street side of the facility. Patient Financial Services and the Lamplighter Gift Shop have also relocated to the first floor.

Tanner has contracted with Prive’ Valet – a company that has been in business for more than 20 years and has provided valet services at other healthcare facilities in Atlanta – to provide valet service at no cost to patients at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton.

Courtesy valet service began for emergency department patients March 14. The service is being overseen by Tanner Security.

“Using the valet service will allow patients to avoid inconveniences due to construction on the hospital campus,” said Loy Howard, president and CEO of Tanner Health System. “We’ve employed this service to ensure that construction causes no undue hardship on our patients in accessing our services. With a major entry point to the hospital closed on the Clinic Avenue side of the facility, using this free valet service will help our patients and visitors continue to easily access the hospital.”

Patients and visitors are encouraged to continue to check www.tanner.org for the latest information on construction at Tanner Medical Center/Carrollton and how the ongoing expansion of the hospital will impact traffic flow around the campus.

Tanner’s registration services are making accommodations to assist patients using the Dixie Street registration area, including providing staff to escort patients through the hospital to the departments they need and furnishing wheelchairs for those with limited mobility.

The services are relocating to accommodate the renovation and expansion of the hospital’s surgical services. Expanding the unit will add three new operating suites, including a new hybrid operating suite that doubles as a catheterization lab, enabling staff to offer the latest vascular procedures. The expansion will also add seven new short stay surgery rooms, allowing more access to same-day surgical procedures that now account for up to 90 percent of all surgical cases at Tanner. The hospital will also add a new suite for gastroenterology procedures.

Expansion of the hospital also will add an entirely new, 32,000-square-foot emergency department, which will almost double the hospital’s emergency services capacity from 22 to 40 beds.
