Carroll County could see a few thunderstorms and some potential flooding today as a weather system originating in Mississippi and Alabama makes its way westward. The storms are expected to move into west-central Georgia in the late afternoon and continue sporadically through the early evening. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration expects most of the severe thunderstorms will be confined to the southwest region of the state.
Overall rainfall for the entire system is forecasted at 2-3 inches, which will likely become direct runoff into already elevated rivers and streams, with the likely potential for some flooding. A flood watch has been issued for Carroll County and will be in effect until 1:00 p.m. Thursday.
