City Dedicates Croft Street Bridge

Members of the community gathered Thursday evening at the Croft Street Bridge in Carrollton for its dedication ceremony and to honor engineer Farlan Floyd.

Floyd planned the renovations for the historic wooden bridge before passing away in late 2009. Family and friends of Floyd took part in Thursday’s ribbon cutting, and a plaque was installed on the bridge in his memory.

The renovated bridge features a pedestrian walkway with a viewing area that overlooks the railroad tracks leading toward downtown. The wooden bridge is a historic piece of Carrollton's heritage that good stewardship has ensured will continue to exist for generations to come.
