Junior Sportsman Bonanza at Tanner Park

Looking to spend some quality time outside enjoying the warm weather? Look no further than John Tanner Park and the Junior Sportsman Bonanza scheduled for March 19. The event has something for all young sportsmen, including wildlife displays, fishing and shooting simulators and bouncy houses for the younger kids.

The park will be visited that day by the well-known Smokey the Bear as well as members of the Georgia Forestry Commission. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore a Life Flight Helicopter and a fire truck courtesy of Carroll County EMS, and the bonanza will also feature a live broadcast by The Great Classics 98.9 radio station

The event kicks off at 9 a.m. with a free lunch at noon and Steve Scruggs’ ‘Let’s Get Wild’ snake exhibit at 1 p.m.

Best of all, the event is free and open to everyone, with the only charge being a $5 parking fee per vehicle.

The Bonanza is an excellent way to take in the beauty of John Tanner, one of Carroll County’s iconic parks, and have inexpensive family friendly fun close to home. So come on out. Take in the fresh air, and learn a thing or two about what it means to be an outdoors junior sportsman.
