Golden K, Southwire to Hold Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser

The Kiwanis Club of Carrollton Golden K is partnering with Southwire to hold a pancake breakfast every Saturday in February, an effort that will give Carroll County residents the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal while supporting local charitable organizations in the process.

This year's pancake breakfasts will be held Feb. 5, 12, 19, and 26 at Little Hawaiian Seafood Grill & Tiki Lounge at 206 Rome Street in downtown Carrollton. Tickets are $6 and are available either at the door or at a variety of local churches and businesses.

Even if you are not a fan of pancakes, it's certainly worth your while to come out and enjoy some of the other hearty breakfast items on the menu.

"We have the absolute best pancakes you could ever hope to find, "said Kiwanis Club of Carrollton Golden K President Randy Coggins. "We have biscuits and gravy. We have grits. We have bacon, eggs, orange juice and coffee."

In addition to becoming a big Carroll County social event annually, the pancake breakfast is the Golden K's biggest fundraiser of the year, raising approximately $400,000 over the past 15 years and over $32,000 in 2010 alone. Money raised by the breakfast is distributed to a number of charities and support networks for local youth and families. Past recipients include Friends of the Whitesburg Library, CASA, the Salvation Army, KidsPeace, Castle Playground, the Carroll County Emergency Shelter and Camp Sunshine.

"The pancake breakfast is paramount to the club, and it’s so important to the community because it puts money back into these organizations to help keep them going," Coggins said.

"It's absolutely worth it to help those folks out, and even more than that, it's a great breakfast."
