The University of West Georgia presents Blithe Spirit by Noel Coward. The show will run in the Townsend Center for Performing Arts Main Stage from April 13-17, at 7:30 p. m. and April 16- 17, at 2:30 p. m. Tickets are $10 and FREE for students with their U.W.G I.D.
The tale follows socialite and novelist Charles Condomine, who invites the eccentric medium and clairvoyant, Madame Arcati, to his house to conduct a séance, hoping to gather material for his next book. In a comical twist of fate, Madame Arcati accidentally summons the ghost of Charles’ former wife, Elvira. This is much to the displeasure of Charles’ living wife, Ruth.
The cast includes: Erika Ragsdale (Stone Mountain, last seen as Catherine in These Shining Lives) as Ruth, Garrett Carpenter (Hartwell, last seen as Dennis in Plumfield, Iraq) as Charles, Ensley Martin (Gainesville, last seen in RENT) as Edith, Callie McNew (McDonough, last seen as Pearl inThese Shining Lives) as Elvira, Monica Mora (Acworth, last seen as Charlotte in These Shining Lives) as Madame Arcati , Zach DeSutter (Ringgold, last seen as Mr. Reed in These Shining Lives) as Dr. Bradman , and Amy Shelton (Hiram, last seen as Maureen in RENT) as Mrs. Bradman.
The last show of the season is directed by faculty member Dr. Pauline Gagnon and the set is designed by faculty member Brad Darvas. Costumes are created by guest designer and UWG Theatre Alum Marie Estes. Props are designed by Jamie Bray (Snellville) and the lights have been designed by Mike Vaughn (Cartersville).
