Dancing-4-Hearts Zumbathon Raises $1,300 for Tanner’s Cardiology Services

More than 100 Zumba Fitness® fans participated in the Dancing-4-Hearts Zumbathon at the Lakeshore Gym in Carrollton on Feb. 27, raising $1,300 to benefit Tanner Health System’s cardiology services.

“It’s wonderful that so many people were willing to come out on a Sunday to exercise and raise funds that will be used to benefit the cardiology program at the Tanner Heart and Vascular Center,” said Tanner Medical Foundation President and CEO Denise Taylor. “One-in-three adults in west Georgia live with cardiovascular disease, so it’s a health issue that doctors in our area deal with every day. Events like this one that combine physical activity and education are a great way to spread the word about the risk factors that contribute to heart and vascular problems.”

Carrollton-based fitness trainer and Tanner Medical Foundation supporter Danielle Thompson led the large group on the gym floor, getting their hearts pumping as they “Zumba’d” off a few unwanted calories for a great cause.

Charlie Rouse, MD, a board-certified cardiologist with West Georgia Cardiology, spoke to Zumbathon participants and provided them with information about heart health and the importance of exercise.
