Carroll to Host Department of Energy, WIPP Officials

The Carroll County Emergency Management Agency will host representatives from the U.S. Department of Energy and GEMA Tuesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Villa Rica Civic Center and Sports Complex for the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Road Show.

The public and members of the media are invited to the event to inspect and learn about the DOE’s new truck and container used to transport transuranic waste from the Savannah River Site to a Waste Isolation Pilot Plant near Carlsbad, NM.

The visit to the V-Plex is part of a two-day four-stop road show along Georgia’s Interstate 20. The show is an opportunity for the public to get a close-up look at the new container, speak to drivers and tour the vehicle.
